?We are thrilled to offer an unbelievable trio of Gem rarities as part of The Dr. Paul and Rosalie Zito Collection. This cabinet was assembled a number of decades ago with many older holders highlighting the offerings. Having been off the market for quite some time, we anticipate bidding and interest in the collection to be exceptional, with the coins described here being three of the top attractions of the group.
Included in this threesome are two opportunities to acquire exceptionally high-level gem 1907 $10 patterns – stunning examples of the Wire Edge, graded MS-68 (NGC), and the Rolled Edge graded MS-67 (PCGS) CAC. The Wire Edge example looks remarkably the same as it did when it was struck over a century ago with pristine yellow-gold surfaces lacking in any blemishes. From the 500-coin mintage, only a lone MS-69 NGC example has been graded finer. The Rolled Edge offers lovely pastel tones not often seen on these issues. Only two examples have received a MS- 67+ rating and none are listed finer, making this piece the third finest known. Additionally, it is one of just two MS-67 examples with CAC approval. We look forward to bidders’ excitement when these two legendary gold patterns reach the auction block.
Among silver coins there is a 1795 silver dollar, graded Specimen 65 (PCGS), the only piece struck from a unique set of dies. This prooflike Gem is of the utmost rarity and value, and displays mirrored surfaces, attractive luster, and gorgeous iridescent toning. After more than 25 years off the market, we suspect there will be lively action when this stunning piece makes its appearance.
Beyond these three coins, the Zito Collection is full of extraordinary, fresh coins whose return to the marketplace will be welcomed by current collectors. The entire Zito Collection, along with our entire Spring 2022 Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Spring Expo, is available for viewing and bidding at StacksBowers.com. ?
