Our last post was about
an impressive New York Assay gold bar that was brought into our store New York
City store and was consigned to our March Official Auction of the Whitman Coin
& Collectibles Baltimore Expo. This post shows another very interesting
item that was just brought in and will be featured in our upcoming April Hong
Kong auction. This Chinese Ming Dynasty 1 Kuan note dates back to the 14th
century and is among the earliest of all collectible paper currency. It is
printed on paper from mulberry bark. At approximately 14 by 9 inches, it is a
wonder that it survived in such nice condition for so many centuries!
This will be joining a
few other Ming notes ranging in conditions from Fine to high end Very Fine that
will be offered in our April sale. We anticipate that these notes will attract
a lot of attention, as it will be a great opportunity for those who have been
searching for this highly sought-after type.
