The Virginia Judge’s Collection of U.S. Currency

Following the ANA World’s Fair of Money this week we will be offering the first installment of The Virginia Judge’s Collection of U.S. Currency. Spanning more than 60 lots, the items will cross the block in Session 4 (Wednesday August 14 at 12 PM PT) and Session 6 (Friday August 16 at 12 PM PT) of our August Global Showcase Auction. The collection features varied U.S. issues with a substantial focus on fancy serial numbers, in both large and small size. Small size issues are represented here by a serial number 1 note and several solid serial number examples, along with a lovely ascending ladder note. Also featured are several Legal Tender fancy serial numbers. There are several large size low serial number notes as well as numerous mid-grade type notes available in popular collector grades. These notes are likely to realize better than average prices as demand continues to outstrip supply.

The bulk of the remaining U.S. material from the Virginia Judge’s Collection listed for auction will include, but not be limited to, ladders, low serial numbers, radars, repeaters, super radars, super repeaters, etc. and will be offered in our September 2024 Collectors Choice Online auction on Thursday September 26 at 9 AM PT. Close to 1,000 notes will be offered in over 200 lots in this session. The passion the consignor had for fancy serial number and quality notes is clear, with most of the notes grading Choice to Superb Gem.

As U.S. notes were not enough to satisfy his collecting interests, he also turned his focus to fancy serial number Canadian and world notes as well. These will be featured in upcoming auctions in September and October.
