Lot 82080 of our upcoming
April 6th Hong Kong auction is an absolutely stunning and colorful Hupeh
Provincial Bank Note. This 1908 1 Chuan is Pick S2094 and S/M number H171-20.
The note is graded by PCGS Banknote Grading as About Uncirculated 58 OPQ due to
paper quality and very light circulation.
This vertical format
design is normally offered only in low states of preservation. The offered
example is fairly well centered and is distraction free with no rips, tears, or
repairs noted. The note also displays brilliant blue inks on the facing dragons
within the green design border. The back is printed in orange with large and
small seals along with character stamping. A yellow tinted ornate border frames
the black writing on the back. It is the first note of this kind that we have
handled in this catalog number. This exciting note carries an estimate of $7,000
to $8,000, which may seem conservative once the hammer drops.
This note will be offered
in Session C of our April Hong Kong Auction, Wednesday April 6, 2016, at 1:00
PM HKT. To view lots and bid visit www.stacksbowers.com. We are currently
