One of the most interesting items that we have handled relating to world paper money will appeal to comprehensive collectors of engraving history. The intent of the book was to illustrate the different paper types the company could furnish. Several different weights and other factors are illustrated with ornate advertising impressions. The book is quite large measuring 335mm x 230mm. A red leather cover has a marbled inner cover and extra page, along with a six page introduction in French which then leads to an amazing group of advertising notes. The notes are printed from plates produced by Bradbury Wilkinson, Waterlow & Sons, Imprimerie E. Defosses, Joh. Enschede en Zonen and Orell Fussli. There are 13 different paper types used, with the five printers being represented on each for a total of 65 individual impressions — faces and backs on the same stock. Each note is separated by wax paper and shows paper designation in type at the upper right of each along with Francais des Papiers Fiduciaires watermarking. This is a truly remarkable item that will fascinate all involved in the hobby.
