Welcome to our November Official Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo

Welcome to our November Official
Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo This is
our final public auction of the year and what a great year it has been! Thank
you to everyone who has participated in our auctions over the course of 2017.

In this catalog we offer more than
1,000 lots of paper money covering the full spectrum of United States Currency.

Our auction features a wonderful
selection of obsolete banknotes from the state of Pennsylvania with superb
rarities found in both issued and proof form.

As we did in our last auction, we have
a nice offering of Confederate currency including rare “Big Six” types like the
T-4, T-27 and T-35. The T-4 $50 Montgomery note is a wonderfully original PMG
Very Fine 30. The T-27 $10 grades Very Fine 25 Net while the T-35 $5 “Indian
Princess” is PMG Choice Fine 15 Net.

Once again we feature a very strong
offering of National Currency notes that display both rarity and nice
condition.  Among a number of high grade
National Currency types is a 1882 $100 Brown Back from the County National Bank
of Clearfield, Pennsylvania graded About Uncirculated 50 by PMG. Lazy Deuce
lovers will be interested in an 1875 $2 from the La Crosse National Bank of La
Crosse, Wisconsin graded Very Choice New 64 PPQ by PCGS. A stunning 1882 $20
Brown Back from the Wisconsin National Bank of Milwaukee, Wisconsin graded PCGS
Superb Gem New 68 PPQ will garner plenty of interest as well. And collectors
from the Hoosier state will be excited by the offering of a serial number 1
Original $5 from the First National Bank of Richmond, Indiana graded Very Fine
30 by PMG and believed to be the earliest serial number 1 note known on the
state.

Our November Baltimore Auction will
also present a number of exceptional large and small size type notes. Our large
size offerings include a PMG About Uncirculated 53 1918 $1000 from the Philadelphia
Federal Reserve District as well as a rare 1863 $20 Interest Bearing Note
graded Very Fine 25 Net by PMG. In small size currency a stunning Gem New 66
PPQ 1933 $10 Silver Certificate should see a flurry of bidding activity. We
always seem to have a nice Ultra-High denomination in our sale and this time we
have a 1934 $5000 Federal Reserve Note from the Dallas district graded Very
Fine 35 by PCGS.

Many other special notes can be found
within the pages of this great catalog. Please take some time to peruse the
offerings and you are sure to find plenty to pique your interest. From our
entire currency staff here at Stack’s Bowers Galleries, I want to say thank you
for your business and friendship. We look forward to seeing you in Baltimore.

Enjoy the paper,

Peter A. Treglia
