The Whitman Coin & Collectibles Convention last week was a pleasure to attend. It was so nice to see friends, coworkers and our dedicated collector and dealer community. The enthusiasm remains quite strong in the coin market, driven by collectors who are thrilled with the variety of material currently crossing the block and the excitement of chasing prized items to add to their holdings. Several notable collections are still being sold as I write these words, so there will be more news to come at the end of our event. However, the book has closed on the third installment of the Syd Martin Collection titled The Middle Colonies Sale. Nearly $3 million was realized when it crossed the block on March 20, highlighted by the (ca. 1784) New York Ephraim Brasher (EB) Regulated Brazil 1754-B 6400 Reis which realized $168,000.
