This November in Baltimore, at our official world paper money auction at the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Expo, we will offer a 1900 $1 note from the Bank of Nova Scotia in Kingston, Jamaica, as well as a 1920 $5 note from the same bank. The $1 note features a green and yellow underprint with a man and woman on either side of the center. The $5 note has bright orange and yellow underprints. Interestingly enough, the $5 design has many similarities to the allegorical figures on US banknotes. Both notes are being sold raw, so we encourage examination prior to bidding.
The two medium-format specimen notes are offered in separate lots and both exhibit stunning color and original paper. The notes contain Specimen serial numbers. The specimen overprints and serial numbers display bright red ink and there are punch cancel holes at the bottom of each note. The design types by American Bank Note Company show all the color and detail one could desire. These designs typically can only be secured in high grade in this specimen form.
