In our upcoming Internet
Session for our January International Auction, we are offering quite a few pieces
that are worthy of mention. You will have the opportunity to bid on these items
on January 17th, beginning at 9 AM PST.
One of the special pieces
being offered is Lot 4113, Pick S489s, a 10 Pesos Chilean Specimen note from
the Bank of Valparaiso. The piece features “SPECIMEN” overprints,
serial numbers, and punch cancels, along with attached counterfoils at left and
right. There is a dog at upper left and Liberty and Justice seated, right
center. This is a rare design that is likely missing in even comprehensive
collections.
Lot 4120 offers a pair of
Provincial Bank of Kwang Tung Province Face and Back Proofs for the S2399 1913
10 Dollar Design. These pieces, graded PMG 66 and 67 represent an important
offering that shouldn’t be confused of the more common series of 1918. This is
only the second time we have handled the type in any form.
A consecutive offering of
Reza Shah Pahlavi 20 Rials Gems will also be available in Lot 4274. These are scarce
in high grade, and just as scarce as consecutive pieces with the combination of
the two even more challenging. These problem free pieces are likely to achieve
some of the highest prices in our Internet Session.
While we are no longer
accepting consignments to our January NYINC Auction, we welcome consignments
for our 2017 auction season. If you are interested in consigning or if you have
a currency related question, please call 1-800-458-4646 or email Currency
Specialist Aris Maragoudakis at amarkis@stacksbowers.com or Director of Currency Peter Treglia
