Well over 30 years ago, a friend of mine mentioned over dinner how busy his company was and that it was growing in leaps and bounds. At that time, I had young children at home and had not returned to full time work so I said, “I’ll come in and help you out for a bit.” That friend was Q. David Bowers and the company name back then was Bowers and Merena. The rest is history!
I started by opening the mail (which is how we got auction bids back then), alphabetizing the bids sheets and entering the bids in a big three ring binder. Hard to imagine that’s how we executed bids back then. Things have definitely changed in that regard.
The point I’m making, however, is that just like when I started out in the business, opportunities for growth here at Stack’s Bowers Galleries are endless. Specifically, right now we are seeking a qualified numismatist who has a solid base of knowledge in all areas of U.S. coins, paper money and bullion for our Boston Gallery. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities include assisting clients with purchases, sales and auction consignments, assisting with invoicing and consignment documents and arranging promotional material and in-store displays. Additional responsibilities include retail store administrative work such as order processing, inventory transfers and inventory control, and assisting with packing and shipping.
We are happy to train interested parties. Please send your resume and other information to Mark Schimel at mshimel@stacksbowers.com
