Wonderful Selection of Colonial Coins Coming Up
Get ready! Get set! Almost go!
Coming at the Whitman Coin Expo in Baltimore two weeks from now is
one of the greatest series of auction sessions we have ever had at that popular
event, Not one, not two, but seven separate catalogs were produced
for our Official Auction!
Vermont copper coins of the 1785 to 1788 years are among my
favorite coins. You may have a copy of the book I did last year on them. Our
auction at the Expo offers a marvelous selection of state coppers, including
those of Vermont, among which are multiple examples of RR-1 with the IMMUNE
COLUMBIA reverse. There is also a separate catalog featuring New Jersey
coppers, and another that concentrates on Massachusetts silver and Connecticut
coppers. Beyond these, there is a special session dedicated to colonial and
early American coins in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Colonial
Coin Collectors Club (C4). Founded in 1993, this is one of the most dynamic
specialty groups in numismatics today. Check their website and sign up. The
cost is minimal and the pleasures are great. I have been a member since day
one.
To get ready for this important event I encourage you to take the
latest copy of the Guide Book
of United States Coins and
read about colonial coins and state coppers. While you are at it, download our
catalogs free from our website — stacksbowers.com — and review the
offerings of colonial and early American coins.
If you plan to attend the Whitman Winter Expo in person, track me
down and say hello. I always enjoy talking about coins. It doesn’t matter if
you just started or if you have been around for a long time. If you will not be
attending, you can participate in real time as our auction sessions will be
live on the Internet.
All good wishes, and thank you for your interest.
