Following the special “Westward Journey” series of 2004-2005 the obverse of the Jefferson nickel was redesigned, and now featured a facing portrait of Jefferson designed by Jamie Franki and sculpted by Donna Weaver. The reverse returned to the facing view of Monticello which had previously been used.
