A rare and desirable piece, the 1763 Hibernian Society of Charleston, South Carolina medal is housed in the Yale University Numismatic Collection. The coin is elliptical in shape, and is often described as a skeleton, as there are voids between the design elements. In the center of the obverse is an angel-type figure that has a fish's tail. The wings form a harp, and the harp strings appear to be made out of braided material. There are five strings in total. Text surrounds the exterior of the medal and a hanger is placed at the top for suspension. The reverse of the medal is void of text, but the engraved elements continue.
