The obverse of Betts-490 shows the bust of Charles III facing the right. On the reverse is a seven line inscription. Within the reverse inscription, the medal actually gives the date of the proclamation ceremonies as April 19, 1760. The location of the medal is identified as MICHAELOLOPOLI IN NOVA HISP (San Miguel in New Spain). But, which of Mexico's several San Miguel's this may represent is uncertain.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the January 2015 NYINC Auction, where it realized $3,055.
