This medal's obverse shows a young armored draped bust of King Charles III facing towards the right. On the reverse are the Twin Arms of Bishop and Diocese of Guadalajara. This medal was commissioned by the bishop Francisco de San Buenaventura Martinez de Tejada who paid for the medals production. It is an important medal as it shows the churches loyalty to the new king. We are aware of five examples of this medal in silver, including one which is holed and another housed in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the January 2015 NYINC Auction, where it realized $4,406.
