The front of the medal features an armored bust of Charles III facing the right. The back of the medal shows two ships at sea with an eagle above and an anchor in foreground. The proclamation ceremonies held in Buenos Aires for the new King Charles III were the most lavish and luxurious held in that city during colonial times. The ceremony was conducted on November 10, 1760 and lasted for 21 days with Don Jeronimo Matorras acting as royal lieutenant. A theater was erected in a corner of the Plaza Mayor for music, theater and dance. Other activities included opera and bull fighting. During these ceremonies, medals were cast in both gold and silver with images of the new king.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the January 2015 NYINC Auction, where it realized $3,525.
