This fine oval gold medal is 1 7/8" tall by 1 1/8" wide. The medal was presumably presented to Captain James Weir and now resides in the Yale University Numismatic holdings. The design has been engraved and a loop has been provided for suspension. On the obverse of the medal is a brigantine under full sail with seven guns. The vessel is facing the left and flies the British flag.
