The 1962 Franklin Half Dollar comes from a mintage of 3,218,019 pieces, the most generous in the Proof Franklin half dollar series. While the 1962 is widely regarded as a "type issue" among Proof Franklins, astute collectors are aware that Deep/Ultra Cameo examples are scarce in an absolute sense. In the finest grades, such pieces are nothing short of rare.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the August 2018 Philadelphia ANA Auction, where it realized $3,360.
