The 1926-S has a low mintage by the standards of this series, with just 4,550,000 pieces produced. It has long been regarded a semi to full key date issue in all grades, and the vast majority of collectors have settled for a worn example due to either availability or cost. Very scarce in all Mint State grades, particularly in full Red.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the June 2023 Showcase Auction, where it realized $15,600.
