From a mintage of 1,275 pieces, 1914 was the second year of production for the series, and the third Proof delivery following the 1913 Type I and II issues. The issue as a whole is uncommonly well made by the standards of the type, adding to its popularity.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the Spring 2024 Showcase Auction, where it realized $11,100.
