Far scarcer than its Proof counterparts from the 1880s, the Proof 1908 has a relatively small mintage of 1,620 coins. Distribution was divided between 545 coins in the silver Proof sets and 1,075 coins in the minor Proof sets. Snow-PR1 is the more frequently encountered of the two known die marriages, attributable by repunching to the digits 19 in the date.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the August 2019 Rosemont ANA Auction, where it realized $7,800.
