The original mintage of 154 pieces leaves few for collectors today, especially so at the Gem or finer level. The 1907 Proof Liberty Head Quarter Eagle is the final year of issue for the long running Liberty quarter eagle series, which essentially was struck since 1840 and remained virtually unchanged during that time.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the March 2012 Baltimore Auction, where it sold for $20,125.
