1902-S Liberty Head Double Eagle
Of the 1,753,625 double eagles coined in the San Francisco Mint in 1902, exportation as part of the United States' international trade was the destiny for most examples. Many have been repatriated in recent years, often with heavily abraded surfaces that limit the grade.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the June 2014 Baltimore Auction, where it realized $14,687.
