Coming from a mintage of 2,350, there is plenty of opportunity for a collector to obtain an 1891 Proof Indian Head Cent. However, when looking for a Red example, the designation only accounts for 12% of the grades. As a tip, there is a lot of hidden value in the Proof-65 BN and Proof-65 RB. Often such pieces are quite close in desirability to full RD coins but sell for a fraction of the cost.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the August 2019 Rosemont ANA Auction, where it realized $2,280.
