As one of the higher mintage (3,100 coins) Proofs in the Indian cent series, the 1882 is a strong candidate for inclusion in a specimen type set. On the other hand, few survivors are expertly preserved in Superb Gem condition. Try to find a Red specimen for your set, of which only 7.5% of certified examples fall into this category.

The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the August 2012 Philadelphia ANA Auction, where it realized $3,525.
