Helpful Tips for Identifying the W-8215, Freidus 1.3-A Variety:
On the obverse of the coin, there are several distinguishing factors to look for. First, the ground line touches the C in PENCE. Second, the deer’s left antler touches the middle of the O in OF. In earlier types, the left antler is lined up with the left side of the O. Finally, the dot between the E in VALVE and the O in OF is closer to the letter E.
The example to the left was sold by Stack's Bowers Galleries in the Sydney F. Martin Collection, Part I, where it realized $84,000.
