Stack's Bowers Galleries is proud to announce plans for a new rare coin gallery in historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located at 1735 Market Street on the corner of 18th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, the new gallery is situated in the heart of Center City, in the midst of the area's best dining, shopping, and entertainment. It is just blocks away from such iconic landmarks as the Comcast Center, Reading Terminal, and beautiful Philadelphia City Hall. It is also a 15-minute walk to the 30th Street Amtrak station, granting convenient access to collectors across the entire Northeast. Renovations are currently under way and the firm hopes to open the 1735 Market Street storefront to collectors in late summer 2021. With the opening of this new gallery, Stack's Bowers Galleries is thrilled to unite America's greatest numismatic city with the country's most accomplished rare coin firm.
Amid volatility in conventional investments, the popularity of hard assets like gold and silver bullion has never been greater. As a result, financial services firm Goldman Sachs has recently announced targets of $2,300 per ounce for gold and up to $33 per ounce for silver. At the same time, increased demand has drained the inventories of precious metals dealers around the world, leaving collectors and investors unable to reliably grow their portfolios.
Stacks Bowers Galleries will present at public auction the finest known 1822 half eagle, the D. Brent Pogue Collection coin. It is a legendary American treasure, the only example in private hands of what is acknowledged as the key to a collection of American gold coins. This exceptional coin will be featured in the firms March 23-26, 2021 auction in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Stack's Bowers Galleries' March 2021 Auction has been relocated and will now be held in Las Vegas, March 23-26 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, in coordination with the PCGS Substitute Members Only Show. Lot viewing will take place in California, New York and at the convention venue with dates to be announced. Specific session details will also be forthcoming as the sale date approaches.
Continuing a series of exceptionally impressive sales, venerable auction house Stacks Bowers Galleries is pleased to announce the results of their most recent January auction, an officially sanctioned auction of the 2021 New York International Numismatic Convention. Containing 3,690 lots spread across ancient coins and world coins, tokens, medals, and currency, this sale realized a total of over $8.43 million well surpassing the median pre-sale estimate of $7.24 million and featured a total sell-through rate of 94%.
