Stacks Bowers Galleries Sells Over $11 Million In Baltimore

Stacks Bowers Galleries conducted the Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo, an incredibly successful sale that realized $11,922,392. Offering U.S. coins, paper money, medals and tokens, the sale featured a number of significant collections. Colonial coins paved the way, with Part III of the Legendary Ted L. Craige Collection leading off Session One of this impressive sale. Other notable collections featured included the Janet Nakushian Collection of Silver Dollars, the Dr. Hans and Birgit Neuberg Collection, the Bob and Sarah Ross Portfolio, Shell Cards from the Stephen L. Tanenbaum Estate, Part II, an Important Collection of Rhode Island Obsolete Proof Notes, and an Advanced Collection of Fancy Serial Number Notes, just to name a few.

Stacks Bowers and Ponterio Official NYINC Auction Realizes $7.3 Million

An extremely rare 1902 Pattern Crown in Gold, PCGS SP-62 brought $117,500 as the top lot in the Stacks Bowers and Ponterio Official NYINC Auction, held January 814, 2013, at The Waldorf Astoria New York, where collectors focused heavily on world coins and paper money, including examples of early ancient rarities and Roman coinage from The Robert O. Ebert Collection.

Leading rare coin auctioneer Stacks Bowers Galleries conducted one of the most highly-anticipated events in numismatic history on January 24, 2013 with the sale of the record-setting Cardinal Collection. The highlight of the evening was the $10,016,875 sale of the coveted 1794 Flowing Hair silver dollar, a superb Gem Specimen example, the finest known to exist. This set a new world-record price for any coin. Attended by hundreds of enthusiasts, collectors, investors and dealers, and resulting in nearly $27 million in rare coins crossing the block, the auction of The Cardinal Collection and other important consignments took place as part of the Stacks Bowers Galleries New York Americana Sale.

Stacks Bowers Galleries realized an impressive $16,791,184 with 10 U.S. and world sessions conducted at the Official Auction of the Whitman Coin and Collectibles Baltimore Expo November 13-17, 2012. The entire auction saw nearly 10,000 lots cross the block, including 5,914 lots of U.S. coins and exonumia, 1,098 lots of U.S. currency, plus 2,970 lots of world coins and currency.
