Strong Results Seen in $1.55+ Million Stack’s Bowers ANA World’s Fair of Money Currency Auction
Prices were strong in the Stacks Bowers Galleries Official Currency Auction of the 2015 ANA Worlds Fair of Money held August 14 and 17, as 339 lots of U.S. currency realized more than $1.55 million. The prices realized were a positive indication for the market as it emerges from its usual summer slump. Adding to the optimism was a number of higher valued lots in multiple categories that sold either comfortably within or above their pre-auction estimates.

Stacks Bowers Galleries is pleased to announce the results of their Official Ancients, World Coin and Paper Money Auction of the 2015 ANA Worlds Fair of Money in Rosemont, Illinois.  Overall, prices realized were robust, with many previously soft areas showing a marked increase in bidder activity. It is becoming more apparent with each passing auction that the market is improving, driving up prices, especially on better material.  (All prices realized include the standard buyers premium).
Napolitano Completes Employment Agreement
Brian Kendrella, president of Stacks Bowers Galleries,  announced today that Chris Napolitano is no longer with the firm.  Chriss contract has come to an end and he will be pursuing other opportunities within the coin industry. Excellent Results Accomplished at the Stacks Bowers Galleries July 2015 Official Baltimore Whitman Coins & Collectibles Expo Auction Sale
As always, all eyes in the numismatic world were on the fabulous Stacks Bowers Galleries series of auctions that took place in Baltimore July 16 and 17, 2015. When all was said and done, the total realization for the collection went far past the pre-sale estimate realizing over $10 million. Anchored by the Twin Leaf Collection of middle and late-date large cents and the Douglas C. Kaselitz Collection of U.S. type coins, the end results were nothing short of spectacular. More than half a dozen lots realized hammer prices in the six-figure range, and numerous other lots pushed that level in a frenzy of bidding activity in the auction gallery, on the telephone, and worldwide on the Internet.

The sale will lead with Chinese material starting with an impressive selection of Empirical issues with many examples of the popular Ming Note, as well as pieces from the Ching Dynasty and Board of Revenue issues. Small Size Type Notes Highlighted in the Stacks Bowers Galleries July Baltimore Currency Auction

Stack's Bowers Galleries upcoming Official Auction of the Whitman Coin and Collectible Summer Expo will feature a number of important United States small size currency offerings. Among the more than 1,200 lots of currency offered in the auction is an impressive Fr. 1700 1933 $10 Silver Certificate graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ by PMG and pedigreed to The Collection of Doug Kaselitz. The small size rarity, one of just over 50 known, is estimated to bring $25,000 to $35,000.

Extremely Rare Proof 1859 Quarter Eagle with the New Reverse Among Highlights of the Rubin Family Collection to be sold at the Stacks Bowers Galleries Official ANA Sale in August

Stacks Bowers Galleries is pleased to present the Rubin Family Collection as part of our Official Auction in conjunction with the ANA Worlds Fair of Money to be held in Rosemont, Illinois in August of this year. This small collection of gold, silver and copper coins includes the finest of three known Proof 1859 quarter eagles with the New Reverse hub style. The Rubin Collection example is graded Proof-65 Deep Cameo by PCGS, and is pedigreed to the famous and historic Amon G. Carter, Jr. Collection. Aside from being the finest New Reverse 1859 Proof quarter eagle, it is arguably the second or third finest certified quarter eagle of the date, the finest being the Harry Bass coin that is graded by PCGS as a Proof-66.
