Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) Recognized Christine Karstedt With Honorary Life Membership
At the annual C4 Board of Directors meeting held in Baltimore, Maryland, last week, the C4 Board of Directors unanimously agreed to recognize Christine Karstedts contributions in the area of colonial numismatics by designating her an Honorary Life Member of the Club. Christine has been a regular dues-paying member of C4 for many years. This is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Club and is rarely awarded. Christine is only the sixth person since 1993 and the first woman to be recognized in this way. She joins past honorees Q. David Bowers, Eric Newman, Kenneth Bressett, Phil Mossman, and Gary Trudgen.

In that sale, they sold a silver 2013 Lealana 0.1 Bitcoin for $33,600, representing a nearly 500% premium above the face value at the time. Since then, Stacks Bowers Galleries has sold 85 cryptocurrency coins totaling over $1.6 million in prices realized and setting numerous records for the premiums achieved.

CAC-Approved 1900 Proof Set Featured in the Stack’s Bowers Galleries Winter 2022 Auction
Stacks Bowers Galleries will offer two remarkable early Proof sets, one from 1855 and one from 1900, in their November 2022 Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Winter Expo. The 1900 Proof set is nearly complete (missing only the Barber dime) including the gold denominations and all coins feature CAC approval. The 1855 set showcases the silver and minor denominations from the silver dollar to down to the half cent and includes several coins with CAC approval. The coins will be offered individually in consecutive lots in the firms Rarities Night session on Tuesday, November 1.

Over $60 million in numismatic items were sold in the Stacks Bowers Galleries 2022 Summer Global Showcase Auction including over $43 million in United States coins. The incredible result set a new record as the highest-grossing auction in the firms 89-year history. The sale was highlighted by the finest known Proof 1825/4/1 Capped Head Left half eagle which sold for a record price of $4.08 million, nearly doubling the pre-sale high estimate.

The special 2021 35th Anniversary American Eagle 1 Ounce Gold and Silver Coins realized over $4.6 million in total sales at the Stacks Bowers Galleries Summer 2022 Global Showcase Auction conducted at Griffin Studios. Presented across 700 lots in a standalone session on September 1, these 35th Anniversary coins saw fierce competition from collectors.
