Spirited bidding in the Stacks Bowers Galleries Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles 2023 Spring Expo resulted in dozens of new price records and a total realization of over $28.5 million. The top performer in the sale was a 1792 cent in copper with a silver plug pedigreed to the Cardinal Collection Educational Foundation. Graded MS-61 BN by PCGS and approved by CAC, this historic and controversial coin brought $576,000. Close behind was an 1854 Kellogg & Co. $20 graded MS-65 (PCGS) CAC that brought more than 60% above the prior all-time record when it sold for $552,000.

$679,456 in Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency coins was sold by Stacks Bowers Galleries in the Physical Cryptocurrency Session of their Spring 2023 Showcase Auction. This set a new record as the single most valuable live auction of crypto coinage and also reflects a 40% year-over-year increase in prices realized compared to the firms Spring 2022 offering.
