When the bright sun of August bakes the land from coast to coast, thats a sign for numismatists to prepare for the annual summer ANA Worlds Fair of Money Convention, held this year in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, a familiar venue for thousands of collectors. As an Official Auctioneer of this years ANA Convention, Stacks Bowers Galleries offers a selection of great coins ranging from readily collectable pieces to great rarities, in copper, nickel, silver, and gold. From colonials to commemoratives, this sale has it all. Beyond that, our staff will be on hand from start to finish of the convention. Come meet, greet, and talk with us.
As always, all eyes in the numismatic world were on the fabulous Stacks Bowers Galleries series of auctions that took place in Baltimore July 16 and 17, 2015. When all was said and done, the total realization for the collection went far past the pre-sale estimate realizing over $10 million. Anchored by the Twin Leaf Collection of middle and late-date large cents and the Douglas C. Kaselitz Collection of U.S. type coins, the end results were nothing short of spectacular. More than half a dozen lots realized hammer prices in the six-figure range, and numerous other lots pushed that level in a frenzy of bidding activity in the auction gallery, on the telephone, and worldwide on the Internet.
The Stacks Bowers and Ponterio August 2015 Hong Kong Currency Auction will showcase an incredible array of rare banknotes from the Far East. The sale will lead with Chinese material starting with an impressive selection of Empirical issues with many examples of the popular Ming Note, as well as pieces from the Ching Dynasty and Board of Revenue issues. Republic era notes are a focal point of the sale as well, with many rare issued notes from the 1910s being offered. Key Provincial Chinese banknote rarities are also included and the sale finishes out with impressive offerings of Hong Kong currency and notes of British Commonwealths.
Stacks Bowers and Ponterio is pleased to announce details of our upcoming Hong Kong Auction of Chinese and Asian coins and currency, to be held August 24th through 26th at The Mira Hong Kong, 118 Nathan Road, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
