The George Gund III Collection to Anchor the Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Auction of the ANA World’s Fair of Money

Stacks Bowers Galleries is proud to announce the sale of The George Gund III Collection of World Coins as part of its official American Numismatic Associations (ANA) Worlds Fair of Money. The firm had the pleasure of selling a portion of Mr. Gunds collection in January 2007, which was very well received.

Stacks Bowers Galleries will showcase the Educational Note sheets pedigreed to The Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection in its official auction with the American Numismatic Associations Worlds Fair of Money. The group comprises three original sheets: the 1896 Silver Certificate Educational Notes of the $1, $2, and $5, each with serial numbers 1 to 4. The firm auctioned the group several years ago for the Harry W. Bass, Jr. Foundation, and is honored to present it once again on behalf of its new owner.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries to Auction Pogue Collection

Stacks Bowers Galleries is honored to announce that the firm has been chosen to market the most valuable collection of federal American coins ever formed. Assembled over several decades by the Pogue family of Dallas, Texas and built under the connoisseurship of D. Brent Pogue, the collection focuses on copper, silver, and gold coins from the early 1790s to the late 1830s. Many of these extraordinary examples are the finest known today. It is anticipated that the collection will be sold over a series of auctions in New York City over the next several years. 

Stack’s Bowers Galleries to Sell 1804 Dollar, Class III, Proof 55 NGC
A beautiful specimen of the King of American Coins, the world-famous 1804 silver dollar, will be presented in the Stacks Bowers Galleries official auction in conjunction with the American Numismatic Associations Worlds Fair of Money in Rosemont, Illinois. The 1804 dollar will be a star attraction in the companys Rarities Night Auction scheduled for Friday, August 8.

One of the highlights of the Stacks Bowers Galleries ANA Worlds Fair of Money will be The Dr. James A. Ferrendelli Collection of Early American Gold Coins. This offering is by die varieties, not just Guide Book varieties, and is one of the most comprehensive of its kind to be offered. As an example, the quarter eagles from 1794 to 1834 encompass each and every one of the 29 different die varieties and combinations listed in the Bass-Dannreuther reference, which is unique in the history of auctions.
