Stacks Bowers and Ponterio conducted the Official Auction of the August 2012 Worlds Fair of Money from August 4-10 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The world and ancients division of Stacks Bowers Galleries presented over 1,300 lots of ancient and world coins and paper money, as well as an Internet-only session that contained more than 700 lots of ancient and world coins and paper money. The sale featured coins from the Demarete Collection, the Madeleine Collection, and much more, and included a plethora of highlights and significant results.

Grand Re-Opening of Historic New York City Institution

Rare Dime Sells For Record $1.84 Million at Auction in Philadelphia

The highlight of the night was the coveted 1873-CC No Arrows Liberty Seated dime, which sold for a record $1.84 million USD the most expensive dime ever sold at auction. Attended by nearly 250 enthusiasts, collectors, investors and dealers and resulting in nearly $10 million in total sales, the auction of the Battle Born Collection took place as part of the Stacks Bowers Galleries Rarities Night Auction at the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Worlds Fair of Money held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
