Our Fall Maastricht Auction that runs in conjunction with the MIF Paper Money Fair is shaping up as we sift through the final submissions for this flagship sale over the next couple of weeks. As announced previously, there are already significant highlights, many of which hail from the prestigious Al Kugel Collection, while others found their way to us through other sources.
One of the most intriguing lots of the auction will be an extremely rare set of North Russian Government of Olenets proof notes. Given their rarity, this may be among the most significant offerings of Russian numismatics we have handled in our lengthy history. This sale however has more than just one lot that will draw attention from Russian collectors, as we will also offer a 1919 500 Rubles from the Chaikovskiy Government, the first we have handled.
A significant group of pieces from East Africa in the Maastricht sale includes a finest graded Pick 6s 500 Rupees specimen, a Pick 17s 200 Shillings = 10 Pounds Specimen, a Pick 32s 10,000 Shillings = 500 Pounds Specimen, and another finest graded note – the Pick 3s 20 Rupees specimen.
Some significant essays and color trials will also cross the block, led by an extremely special Ethiopian Bank of Abyssinia 500 Thalers, an Iraqi 1947 10 Dinars in 66EPQ, a 500 Riyals Printer’s Model from Qatar, and a 1952 Bermuda 10 Pound Color Trial.
