Important Mint State 1871-CC Liberty Seated Dime To Be Showcased in our Upcoming 2015 ANA World’s Fair of Money Auction.

The Carson City, or “CC”, mintmark evokes nostalgia in the hearts of most collectors. Due to the limited production figures and the association with the “Wild West,” coins produced by this facility are often more desired and treasured than their Philadelphia, or even other branch mint, peers.

The Carson City Mint produced its first coins in 1870, striking silver quarters, half dollars and dollars, plus gold half eagles, eagles, and double eagles. Dimes followed suit in 1871, to the tune of 20,100 pieces. Offered in our 2015 ANA World’s Fair of Money auction is an incredible Mint State survivor of this low-mintage issue. The 1871-CC is a rarity in any grade, and even VG to VF examples are eagerly sought by today’s collectors. In Mint State, however, the rarity increases greatly and the date truly deserves its Rarity-7+ rating.

The offered dime exhibits a satiny vibrancy to both sides, revealing subtle semi-reflective qualities in the fields. It is lightly toned in iridescent pinkish-silver. A strong strike imparted bold to sharp definition throughout the design. This impressive rarity is sure to excite both Carson City and Liberty Seated dime enthusiasts.

This exquisite jewel is from the Genoa Mill Collection, a cabinet spotlights several significant rarities form the Carson City Mint.  To view these, and other world-class offerings, please visit us at StacksBowers.com or contact us for more information at 800-458-4646.
