The Stack’s Bowers Galleries Official Currency Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Spring Expo in Baltimore is now posted online and open for bidding. At nearly 2,900 lots, this is our largest currency auction to date!
This sale offers several well curated collections of notes spanning many genres. The Kendall Foundation Collection offers a fascinating assortment of Colonial and Continental Currency. The Peter Mayer Collection Part III represents the final offering of notes from this fantastic collection of Obsolete Proof Banknotes. The Norris Collection features one of the most complete collections of North Carolina state issued notes by variety ever to appear at auction. The Holecek Family Foundation Collection is a remarkable offering of small-size $500, $1000, $5000 and $10000 Federal Reserve Notes. Highlights from the auction can be seen this week at both the ANA National Money Show in Portland, Oregon and the Chicago Paper Money Expo in Rosemont, Illinois.
There will be three live sessions of the auction on Thursday, March 26, with the first session including The Henry P. Kendall Foundation Collection beginning at 11am. The second session will begin immediately after session 1 and will include Colonials, Obsoletes, Confederates and miscellaneous other notes. Session 3 will feature Federal notes including Fractionals, Large size and Small size Type notes and National Bank notes will begin at 6pm.
We are pleased to announce that the Internet session of our March Baltimore Currency Auction will feature live bidding through our Internet platform with lots closing in real time in lot order. Live bidding will now be a feature in all of our Showcase Auction internet sessions.
