Stack’s Bowers Galleries is pleased to present the private collection of United States coins assembled over the past four decades by Stephen Winthrop at next week’s New York Americana Sale. A year ago, Mr. Winthrop was diagnosed with ALS, an incurable degenerative disease that attacks an individual’s motor neuron cells, and results in a painless yet progressive weakening of muscles throughout the body. An average patient’s life expectancy is four years. Mr. Winthrop decided to liquidate his entire coin collection and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to finding a cure for ALS.
We are pleased to join Mr. Winthrop and Harvard University in this philanthropic venture. At the conclusion of the Stephen Winthrop Collection, Stack’s Bowers Galleries is proud to present six lots of special products and services for your bidding pleasure. The proceeds from the sale of lots 2175 through 2180 are being donated by Stack’s Bowers Galleries to the Stephen VanR. Winthrop ALS Fund at Harvard University. We hope you take advantage of this additional opportunity to donate to this great organization and bid accordingly!
