For many years, our Americana Sales conducted in New York City have attracted collectors, dealers, museum curators and others seeking quality coins, medals and tokens, from colonial issues onward. There is still time for you to be a part of it! The February Americana Sale will take place February 5-6, 2015, and the deadline for consignments is December 5, 2014.
Headlining this event is The Stephen Winthrop Collection, a wonderfully diverse selection of classic United States coins including early silver and gold coinage in Choice and Gem Mint State grades. The collection is fresh and of premium quality, evidenced by most of the coins being offered in early green-labeled PCGS holders. Many pieces have also been verified by CAC.
A year ago, Mr. Winthrop was diagnosed with ALS, an incurable degenerative disease that attacks an individual’s motor neuron cells, and results in a painless yet progressive weakening of muscles throughout the body. An average patient’s life expectancy is four years. A few months ago, Mr. Winthrop decided to liquidate his entire coin collection and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to finding a cure for ALS.
Stack’s Bowers Galleries is pleased to join Mr. Winthrop and Harvard University in this philanthropic venture to help fight ALS. “We will be including additional lots with all proceeds going to Mr. Winthrop’s charity at Harvard, and are inviting consignments of donated numismatic items to be sold in this special section of our catalog,” said Brian Kendrella, president of Stack’s Bowers Galleries. “In addition, we are accepting consignments of United States coins, tokens and medals to be showcased alongside The Winthrop Collection in our Americana Showcase and Rarities Night Auction.”
We invite you to consign to this special event. Consignors have numerous options when selling coins and paper money, but only one choice when it comes to having your consignments handled by a firm with the longest standing record of success in numismatics — Stack’s Bowers Galleries. Contact us today at 800-458-4646 (West Coast) or 800-566-2580 (East Coast) to ensure your rarities are part of this Showcase and Rarities Night sale.
