With special NGC and PCGS coin grading events held at our New York and Southern California offices, a successful expansion into the elite Hong Kong market, appointment as the Official Auctioneer of the 2013 New Orleans ANA Auction, and seller of the finest-graded MCMVII (1907) Proof Ultra High Relief double eagle coin for $2.76 million, it’s been quite an exhilarating and thriving time for the company. In the past month alone, we made history once again with the sale of the Unique 1873-CC No Arrows Liberty Seated dime, sold for a record $1.84 million at the Official Auction of the 2012 Philadelphia ANA World’s Fair of Money, unveiled New York’s first-ever GOLD to go™ ATM machine, and celebrated the grand reopening of our landmark Stack’s Bowers Galleries retail store on 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan!
As we prepare to bring this triumphant year to a close, we are committed to providing you with many new and improved opportunities for buying and selling exceptional U.S. and World coins and currency. In an attempt to ensure that our business can continue to provide the same high level of quality and support to all of our clientele, we will be updating our buyer’s fee.Beginning January 1, 2013, the revised fee will be a flat 17.5% charge. Our new fee is significantly lower than fees charged by various collectibles and fine arts auction houses, many of which do not prepare catalogs equivalent to ours. Part of the increase will also go toward providing additional printed and online information to benefit all of those who do business with us, as well as the numismatic community worldwide. This change will not affect the Official Auction of the November 2012 Whitman Coin and Collectibles Baltimore Expo, nor will it affect upcoming Hong Kong auction sales, which will remain the standard 19.5% fee.
