Fancy serial numbers are alive and well as evidenced by the recent success of our Collector’s Choice auction of the Virginia Judge’s Collection of US Currency on Friday September 26, 2024. There were numerous low serial numbers, super repeaters, super radars and other fancy numbers that were collected many years ago. The popularity and scarcity of these pieces makes them continue to gain in value every year. The demand continually outstrips the supply.
Below are some of the strong prices realized for a few of the lots that were offered in the sale.
These prices reflect a true appreciation for fancy serial number notes that is likely to continue for many years to come. I was privileged to have the opportunity to work on bringing this collection to auction. It certainly was a pleasure working closely with Mike Abramson and the Virginia Judge on these items.
