This group of around 50 notes is consigned by a highly knowledgeable and discerning collector who saw our successful April sale and was inspired to consign a small part of his impressive holdings!
I have picked out nine immensely popular type notes and are either top pop, the highest grade with the coveted EPQ qualifier or very close to one of these categories.
- Ta Ching Government Bank, 5 Dollars, Shanghai, 1906. Graded PMG 45-EPQ, the ONLY example graded to date.
- Bank of China, 1 Yuan, 1914. Graded 64-EPQ, the SINGLE HIGHEST GRADED note.
- Central Bank of China, 500 Yuan, 1936. Graded 65-EPQ, the SINGLE HIGHEST GRADED note.
- Federal Reserve Bank of China, 5 Dollars, 1938. Graded 55-EPQ, the highest numerical grade with the EPQ status.
- Federal Reserve Bank of China, 10 Dollars, 1938. Graded 50-EPQ, the single second highest numerical grade with the EPQ status, surpassed by only one example in 64-EPQ.
- Federal Reserve Bank of China, 100 Yuan, 1938. Graded 55-EPQ, the third highest grade with the EPQ status.
- Central Bank of China, ‘Yellow Crane Tower’ 2 Yuan, 1941. Graded 58-EPQ, the fourth highest grade with the EPQ status, surpassed by only three other notes.
- China and South Sea Bank Limited, 1 Yuan, Shanghai, 1927, single prefix Z. Graded 55-EPQ. Among the highest grades with the EPQ status.
- China and South Sea Bank Limited, 1 Yuan, Shanghai, 1927, double prefix ZM. Graded 58-EPQ. Among the highest grades with the EPQ status.
