Our East Coast galleries – located in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia – will soon be receiving new paper money for retail sale. Among these are large denomination (e.g., $500 and $1,000) Federal Reserve Notes, large-size type notes (including Legal Tender Notes, Gold and Silver Certificates, and Federal Reserve Banknotes), and 19th century obsolete banknotes. Interested paper money collectors should stop by or contact one of our locations to take advantage of this opportunity!
A Series 1896 $2 Educational Silver Certificate graded Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ by PMG is the most notable of the material bound for Boston. This remarkable note sits near the top of PMG’s grading census, with 34 other grading events in the assigned grade and only eight finer. To contact our Boston gallery call 617.843.8343 or email Boston@StacksBowers.com
Our New York City location will be receiving multiple high-denomination Series 1934 Federal Reserve Notes, including a mule of the Fr. 2202-B $500 FRN. Also heading to the Big Apple is a smattering of popular large-size type notes including 1899 “Chief” and “Black Eagle” Silver Certificates and a 1907 “Woodchopper” $5 Legal Tender Note. To contact our New York gallery call 212.582.2580 or email NYC@StacksBowers.com
A similar range of small-size high-denomination FRNs and large-size type notes will be arriving soon in Philadelphia. Highlights among the new inventory include a Fr. 2202-B 1934A $500 Federal Reserve Note in a PCGS Banknote Choice Uncirculated 63 holder and an 1880 $10 Legal Tender Note, a type colloquially referred to as the “Jackass Note” due to the small eagle engraving at the bottom-center of the note’s face that looks like a donkey when it is turned upside down. To contact our Philadelphia gallery call 267.609.1804 or email Philly@StacksBowers.com.
New retail inventory arrives in our East Coast galleries regularly, so interested readers are encouraged to check in to see if any desired notes are in stock!
