Our June U.S. Currency CCO is currently posted to our website for viewing and bidding. The sale features close to 300 lots, with impressive offerings of Confederate Bonds and Obsolete Currency. The other sections contain some neat items too, such as lot 91059, an Orange, New Jersey 1862 $1 Mercantile Bank in PMG Fine 12.
No. 14702, Plate B. NJ400G2a. Top center is a custom scene engraved for the bank: Entrance to Llewellyn Park. At lower left is a female portrait and at lower right, the seated female Agriculture. The current note is one of just two graded by PMG for this elusive denomination. We have not offered this type since our May 2008 sale of the Minot Collection, and that example brought an astonishing $6,900!
