??Our Spring 2022 U.S. Currency Auction is currently posted to the website for viewing and bidding, and printed catalogs of the live sale will be mailed soon. We are offering an impressive quantity of National Bank notes in our live and internet sessions, so be sure to browse both sections. One notable example is lot 20322, an uncut sheet of four notes consisting of $10-10-10-20 denominations from the 1902 Plain Back series. This sheet hails from Charter #10107, The Capital National Bank of Sacramento, California, and is offered in a PCGS Banknote Choice Extremely Fine 45 grade.
The Capital National Bank was chartered on November 18, 1911 and issued a whopping $7,192,540 during its operating tenure. The bank lasted through the end of the National Currency era in 1935, with $20,025 reported outstanding. This is the second sheet to come to light from the bank, and it is sure to be well received by collectors seeking a sheet from the capital city of California. Five banks issued currency in Sacramento, with the other four banks reportedly having no known sheets available to collectors. This is the first sheet to be offered publicly to collectors from this bank; the other sheet known is a $5 Plain Back with no auction records. This $10-$10-$10-$20 sheet is presumed to be unique to survive for the bank. The paper is bright with dark design elements and cool blue overprints. PCGS Banknote comments "Pinholes, Edge Tear, Minor Mounting Remnants."
