Lovely Choice EF 1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar to be Featured in Our December 2016 Collectors Choice Online Auction

In
our upcoming December 2016 Collectors Choice Auction we are pleased to offer a
delightful Choice EF 1807 Draped Bust half dollar. The overall dove-gray
surfaces reveal lilac and azure iridescence in the peripheries, complementing remnants
of pearlescent mint luster. Despite evidence of a later die state, the motifs are
uniform and bold, accompanied by cracks and clashing around most major
elements. The overall aesthetic is superlative for the grade.

The
1807 Draped Bust half dollars represent the final use of this design for the
denomination, and serve as a transitional issue with the Capped Bust type. In
late 1807 a new assistant engraver, John Reich, was hired by the Mint to
improve coinage designs. He started by revitalizing the denominations that were
the most popular United States coins in circulation. As a result, both the half
dollar and the half eagle saw dramatic changes in 1807, with design transitions
introduced for other denominations the following year.

This
lovely EF-45 (PCGS) half dollar will be among the many highlights offered in
our December 2016 Collectors Choice Online auction, which will be available for
viewing at the Houston Money Show December 1 – 3. For more information, or to
consign your coins to a future event, contact us today at 1-800-458-4646 to
