The Stack’s Bowers Galleries Coins in Motion highlight of the week is not a coin at all, but is a banknote from our August 2021 Official Auction for the ANA World’s Fair of Money. The 1922 $1,000 Gold Certificate shown here is graded by PMG as Choice Extremely Fine 45. There are just 41 examples known in all grades of this Fr. 1220 note that features Alexander Hamilton at the center. This attractive example displays bright paper and wide margins and should attract strong bidding when it crosses the auction block in August.
Coins in Motion seeks to enable collectors, bidders, and consignors to accurately appreciate how Stack’s Bowers Galleries coins look in hand. Ultra-high resolution animations depict how luster moves over the coin’s surfaces, while the rotating motion allows for any possible imperfections to be revealed.
