Offered
in our December 2017 Collectors Choice Online Auction is an exceptional MS-66
(PCGS) Lincoln cent that ranks among the finest survivors of the desirable
1915-D issue. The pinkish luster that dominates each side displays amber and
violet patina across the obverse. Square and sharp rims are reflective of the
strong definition of the devices throughout. The fields are mattelike and
satiny, complementing the pristine preservation and enhancing the superlative
eye appeal.
The 1915-D Lincoln cent is an underrated
semi-key issue in the series, though it is overshadowed by the Denver Mint
rarity of the previous year, the 1914-D.
However, the 1915-D remains elusive in its own right, on par with the
1911-D and 1912-D. While over 22 million examples were struck, examples are
scarce approaching Gem and very rare any finer. PCGS has certified just five
coins finer than the present example through MS-67 RD. Lincoln cent specialists and Registry Set
enthusiast will be sure to take advantage of this attractive and scarce coin.
This
exceptional Gem will be featured in our December 2017 Collectors Choice Online
Auction alongside many other significant rarities including a 1921-S Lincoln
cent in MS-65 RD (PCGS). The auction will be available for viewing and bidding
