Stunning PCGS-66+ Gem Mint State 1907 No Periods Indian Eagle One of Many Golden Treasures in Our June 2014 Baltimore Auction

A visually stunning deep orange-gold 1907 Indian eagle will be front and center among the many treasures offered in our upcoming Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo, June 26-27, 2014. The coin, graded MS-66+ by PCGS, is a beauty. The deep golden surfaces are alive with luster and the strike is strong throughout. The coin is the ideal representative of the first year of the Saint-Gaudens eagle type, and easily warrants the assigned grade. Indian eagles, first struck in 1907, were of three distinct design types. The first two types are popular rarities, were struck in limited quantities, and had periods or stops before and after UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The third type, the With Periods design offered here, is the one that won out at the Mint, and 239,406 pieces were struck for actual circulation. Fortunately for today’s collectors, gorgeous Gem Mint State examples of the type are occasionally available in the numismatic marketplace – this is one of those occasions! The quality of the present coin stretches way beyond average and hovers near perfection for the date and type. This 1907 No Periods eagle will enjoy a stiff round of bidding before the final auction hammer falls. View this coin along with the rest of our auction by visiting the StacksBowers.com homepage.
