A splendid Gem Uncirculated 1883 silver Hawaiian quarter certified MS-66 by NGC is one of many highlights in our next iAuction sale. The series was designed by Charles Barber and the coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint but without an S mintmark. The Hawaiian silver coinage of 1883 amounted to $1 million face value split between dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars. The mintage for the quarter dollar was 499,974 pieces, many of which were redeemed and melted soon after Hawaii became a U.S. territory in 1900. The beautiful iAuction specimen is boldly struck with full design details, and is attractively toned with deep golden brown highlights at the rims. We suspect this classic issue will be the focal point of a serious round of bidding in our next iAuction event!
